Artory
This app empowers museum and gallery visitors to optimize their experience with easy ticket management and interactive exhibition guides — all within a simple, intuitive interface.
2022 - 2023
Goal
Museums and galleries face the challenge of attracting more visitors and keeping them engaged. Visitors often lack accessible information, interactive tools, and clear navigation, which limits their overall experience.
Create an Artory app that combines ticket management and exhibition guides with interactive features to make cultural exploration simple, engaging, and personal.
Understanding Users
Buying tickets quickly
• Long queues at the entrance make the process slow and frustrating.
• Lack of online or mobile ticketing leads to wasted time.
• Visitors want an instant, hassle-free way to secure tickets.
Engaging youth to visit exhibitions
• Younger audiences often see museums as “boring” or outdated.
• Limited interactive or digital features fail to capture their attention.
• Without engaging content, it’s hard to motivate them to come or return.
Sharing and saving information
• Visitors cannot easily save details about what they saw.
• Sharing experiences with friends requires extra effort (photos, links, etc.).
• Lack of simple sharing options reduces word-of-mouth promotion.
Refining the design
To validate the initial design decisions, I conducted two rounds of usability studies with potential users. The goal was to observe how visitors interact with the prototype, identify pain points, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
Round 1
Quick and clear ticket purchase
Participants emphasized the need for a fast and straightforward ticket-buying flow with as few steps as possible. Another critical insight was the importance of immediate confirmation after payment: users wanted to instantly see their digital ticket displayed in the app. This visual proof reassured them that the transaction was successful and eliminated uncertainty about whether the purchase went through.
Round 2
Finding relevant exhibitions
Users wanted an easier way to discover exhibitions that match their personal interests (e.g., modern art, history, photography). They felt that personalized recommendations would save time and make the experience more engaging.
Result
The project led to a clearer and more practical concept that focused on making museum visits simple and engaging. Instead of being only a tool for buying tickets, the app became more like a helpful guide that supports planning, makes exploring easier, and adds value at every step of the visit. This showed how good design decisions can turn routine actions into a richer and more enjoyable experience.
